Southampton supporters have taken aim at referee Andre Marriner following a handful of controversial decisions in Sunday’s Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Claude Puel’s side suffered a 2-1 loss at White Hart Lane, and plenty of blame has been directed at Marriner, whose performance has been criticised before when officiating a Southampton game.
The 46-year-old was the man in the middle at the EFL Cup final, which saw the Saints have a goal wrongly disallowed for offside.
On the day, Puel’s men went on to lose the Wembley showdown 3-2 and were forced to watch Manchester United lift the crown.
Against Spurs, the Saints were denied a penalty on the stroke of half-time when Dusan Tadic was brought down.
It incensed the fans, particularly as the home side were given a soft penalty in the 33rd minute when Dele Alli hit the ground under a challenge from Steven Davis.
